help with HKEY_Local_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Micros oft\Security Center\AntiVirus Disable Notify (Data:1)
apologies to all: i mistakenly posted this on the Vista Forum...my bad.several months ago i installed malwarebytes and it immediately began to identify the bug noted in my Title. i have windows xp and symantec, Spybot S&D and Microsoft Security CEnter firewall and antivirus and do upates once or twice a week. the first time i ran malwarebytes, i got an icon in the lower tool bar saying my antivirus was off. i turned it back on. . now when i ck the microsoft security center, all items (antivirus, updates and firewall) are always on even though malwarebytes tells me i have this HKEY bug.is this a virus or a conflict between several security/virus programs? if it is a virus, how do i get rid of it. my computer skill is about 4 on a 1 to ten spectrum, ten being high. any help is appreciated.1 person needs an answerI do too

This does not mean you cannot have an anti-virus software and Malwarebytes or Spybot. SpyBot and Malwarebytes are malware scanners and are not anti-virus. When installing an anti-virus some are not recognized by Windows Security Center and therefore the red shield appears in the system tray. Many times when this occurs the user disables the notifier and chooses to monitor the anti-virus themselves. Additionally, as noted on the link above, some anti-virus software automatically change the setting. Personally, you could not give me Symantec or Spybot.
